Job Overview:
Growing eyecare practice is seeking a skilled Optometrist to join our team. As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services to patients of all ages. This includes performing eye exams, diagnosing and treating eye conditions, prescribing corrective lenses, and educating patients on proper eye care.
Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity and detect any abnormalities or vision problems
- Diagnose and treat various eye conditions, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration
- Prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses based on patients' vision needs
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and answer any questions or concerns they may have
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in optometry and attend continuing education courses
Requirements:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school
- Valid state license to practice optometry
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Experience in senior care, pediatrics, or optical sales is a plus
- Familiarity with aseptic technique when performing procedures
- Strong understanding of medical records management and documentation
- Knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and pathology
- Proficient in conducting visual acuity tests and assessing vital signs related to eye health
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals
